A White-tailed Eagle on migration, appearing out of nowhere, is just an unforgettable sight. This bird popped up while I was enjoying a cup of coffee together with some birding friends in a local hotel in Katwijk aan Zee, overviewing the beach. Its approach was preluded by a total panic of the Oystercatchers present in the local river outlet. Before we knew, it just was there and slowly continued its way south, probably en route for one of the usual wintering sites in the SW of The Netherlands.
